Jeremy Facknitz – Folk / Singer/Songwriter
Jeremy Facknitz (that’s me) didn’t even pick up a guitar and begin writing songs until he was 18 years old. My aunt, a songwriter herself, passed down her old Yamaha acoustic to me as Christmas gift. Within a few short months, the Michigan native (still me) found himself competing in local talent shows and jamming in various basement bands. In 1997 I made the trek upstairs and joined the Detroit-based band ‘The Ottomans’ (2001 Best New Alternative Band, Detroit Music Awards). I played bass guitar in the project, was the main music contributor to the groups compositions. After ‘The Ottomans’ parted ways in 2002, my brother Jarod and I formed under the moniker ‘Standing Room Only’ and shared our not-so-subtle mix of deadly serious and comedic songs with intimate coffee shop gatherings throughout the mid-west. Since going solo in September 2003, I have lived and played all over the United States. After U.S. mini-tours in 2006 and 2008, I took on the whole nation in 2010 performing over 90 shows in 32 states. I’m off the road now, currently residing in the music capital of America, Webster Groves, Missouri. I’m newly wed to the beautiful and talented Lindsay Weidmann, and still performing – solo as well as a duo with my wife in the St. Louis area.
